Terms of Service

The rules for using this site and the Cloud-Vex service.

Effective date: August 12, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Cloud-Vex LLC, an Ohio limited liability company (“Cloud-Vex”, “we”, “us”). By using cloud-vex.com or the Cloud-Vex service, you accept them.

1. Marketplace purchases

Cloud-Vex is bought through cloud marketplaces (AWS, and in future Azure and Google Cloud). The purchase itself — price, billing, refunds, the contract term — is governed by the agreement you accept at checkout in that marketplace, including any standard contract offered there. If those terms and these ever conflict about the purchase, the marketplace terms win. These terms cover everything else: this website, your licence key, and how the service may be used.

2. Your licence

While your subscription is active, you have a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to deploy and use Cloud-Vex for your organisation's internal purposes. One subscription covers your organisation's accounts across AWS, Azure, and GCP. The free tier is limited to one cloud account, one region, and one scan.

3. Licence keys

Your licence key is a credential. Keep it confidential, and don't share it outside your organisation or use one key for multiple organisations. Your deployment periodically confirms its key with our licensing service; it is designed to keep working for up to seven days if that service is unreachable, so a brief outage on our side never interrupts you. We may revoke a key that is being abused, shared, or used without an active subscription — revocation takes effect at the next check.

4. Your environment, your responsibility

Cloud-Vex runs inside your own cloud account, and its findings are recommendations. You decide what to change in your environment, and you remain responsible for it — including reviewing changes before making them, your cloud provider's charges (including the modest cost of running Cloud-Vex itself), and your own backups and security. Savings estimates are estimates: they depend on your environment and your actions, and we don't guarantee any particular result.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Cloud-Vex to break the law; don't attempt to bypass, probe, or reverse-engineer the licensing system; don't resell, rent, or offer Cloud-Vex as a service to others without a written agreement with us; and don't misrepresent your identity or organisation when subscribing.

6. Support

Support runs over email at support@cloud-vex.com. We aim to respond within one business day. There is no uptime guarantee or service-level agreement unless one is agreed in writing — the service is deliberately designed (see section 3) so that our availability doesn't affect your deployment day to day.

7. Intellectual property

Cloud-Vex, its software, documentation, and branding are ours. Your cloud environment, your data, and your scan results are yours — they live in your account and we make no claim to them.

8. Termination

Cancel any time through the marketplace you purchased from; access continues to the end of the period you've paid for. We may suspend or terminate a licence for material breach of these terms. Because everything runs in your account, ending a subscription never takes your data with it.

9. Disclaimers

The service and this site are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent the law allows.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is capped at the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

11. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version appears here with a new effective date, and material changes that affect active subscribers are announced by email. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
