About

Cloud-Vex

Cloud-Vex is a small, bootstrapped company. No venture round, no outside investors, no growth-at-all-costs mandate to answer to — just one person who kept running into the same expensive problem and decided to build the fix, funded out of pocket from day one. That starting point shapes everything else here: with no runway except what the product itself earns, it has to actually work, and it has to earn a renewal every single time.

The problem was ordinary and expensive: unexplained, steadily rising cloud spend. While reviewing Azure and AWS bills, it became clear that identifying waste across multiple cloud environments was far more difficult than it needed to be. Detached volumes, orphaned load balancers, forgotten test environments — individually small, collectively significant, and none of it the result of negligence. It's just what happens when infrastructure is easy to create and hard to audit holistically, and a small team feels every dollar of that waste more than a large one does.

Existing tools added their own friction on top. Many charged a percentage of cloud spend, which meant getting better at cost management made the tool less valuable and growing made it more expensive — a bad incentive for anyone, and one a bootstrapped company building this couldn't justify passing on. Worse, most wanted billing data exported to an external service, which for the organizations I've supported over 25 years routinely means a stalled security review before anyone gets real value.

Cloud-Vex was built in 2026 on a different principle, one a small team with limited resources could actually commit to fully: cost-visibility tooling should run entirely inside the customer's own environment. The scanner deploys directly into your cloud accounts, reads billing and resource data without writing or modifying anything, and nothing ever leaves your security boundary. One flat price covers AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud — no percentage fees, no per-account charges, no sales-driven tiers designed to extract more from you as you grow. A company spending two million a month pays the same as one spending twenty thousand, because finding the waste doesn't get harder as the bill grows, and a small company doesn't get to charge you more just because it can.

That has a deliberate consequence: Cloud-Vex keeps no customer data and holds no operational leverage over anyone. There's no renewal negotiation tied to your infrastructure growth and nothing engineered to make leaving hard. A company this size doesn't get the benefit of the doubt that a bigger, funded name might — the product has to keep delivering more than it costs, or you should stop paying for it, full stop.
